Dual Minds Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 23, 2026

Who we are

Dual Minds is a flight-training app for student pilots and flight instructors, made by Mad Minds. This policy explains what the app collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Signing in

You sign in with Google through Firebase Authentication (Google). When you sign in, we receive your name, email address, profile photo and a Firebase user ID. We never see your Google password.

Your account and training data

Your account holds your role (student, instructor, or both), your profile and setup choices, the aircraft you add (tail numbers), and your lesson and flight-training information. This data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) and on our backend running on Google Cloud.

Your calendar — only if you connect it

We read a calendar only if you choose to connect one. You can connect Google Calendar with read-only access (the calendar.readonly scope), or the calendar already on your device through Apple EventKit, after giving iOS permission.

We use your calendar only to show your upcoming flights and lessons. We do not create, change or delete calendar events. You can disconnect at any time by revoking access for Dual Minds at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or by changing calendar access in iOS Settings.

Flight logs from an SD card — only if you import them

If you choose to import flight logs from a Cirrus or Garmin avionics SD card, the log files are uploaded to our backend. Those files can include aircraft position, altitude, speed, engine data and time stamps.

We keep the files so you have an import history, and — as the app develops — to power training features such as your logbook and debriefs. Nothing is read from a card until you pick that card and an import runs, and you can turn automatic imports off in the app.

Weather and aviation data

Weather and other aviation data comes from public sources through our backend. We use the location of the airports and practice areas relevant to your training to show the weather for them.

Diagnostics and analytics

We collect crash reports through Firebase Crashlytics (Google), along with performance and product-usage events that are sent to our own backend on Google Cloud. Feature flags and experiments are managed with GrowthBook. These are tied to an app-generated identifier, not to your name or email address.

We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA), we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and there is no advertising in the app.

How we use your data

We use your data to run the app and its features, to keep your account and data secure, to fix bugs, and to improve the app.

What we don't do

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

We share data only with the service providers that run the app for us (Google Firebase and Google Cloud), when the law requires it, or with your direction — for example, when a student shares training data with their instructor inside the app.

Google API data

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google Calendar data is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not read by humans except with your consent, for security purposes, or as required by law.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and the data that belongs to it by emailing privacy@dualminds.app. We delete it within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS, and access to it is controlled and limited to what running the app requires.

Children

Dual Minds is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has given us data, email privacy@dualminds.app and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
